When i got home after meeting Kate and Duncan for the first time, i think my words were "They're lovely, really really lovely. I hope i get to capture their wedding". Fortunately they too wanted me to do it and i was tremendously excited for what was in store for their wedding day at The Larmer Tree Gardens.
Not only had they chosen what was to become one of my favourite venues, they also came across as kind, welcoming, intelligent, funny and most importantly, totally in love with one another. They had met through a dating site, which is more and more common of the people i meet. I think its fantastic they found each other as they make for the perfect couple!
The bridal prep in the morning was met with an air of excitement and nervousness - exactly what you want for the morning of your wedding. It all acts to remind you how much the day means to everyone. Kate and her bridesmaids looked incredible and it'd be remiss of me not to mention that Duncan and his groomsmen looked dapper too!!
The venue itself is quite unique. With a Roman Temple hosting the ceremony, a beautiful stage from which The Royal T's performed (check them out!!) and the Japanese building (i'm sure there's a name for that but it escapes me), it is as stunning as it is varied. Kate & Duncan utilised this by opening up areas of the garden during different parts of the day until everyone was seated in the main hall for the wedding breakfast.
The vows, heartfelt and humorous readings, speeches and video from Kate's Primary School students all added real emotion and laughter to a fabulous occasion.
Once the evening came it was time for the lanterns to be lit and placed on the pond - a quiet moment amongst the bridal party and close family. Once again, Gail (the wedding co-ordinator at The Larmer Tree) kept everything on track and seamlessly brought the day together. After that came their first dance and sparklers under the festoon lighting that just added that last touch of magic.
Working alongside me that day was Sadie Osborne & her assistant Kate who were filming the occasion. They produced a wonderful film and really added to the fun dynamic of the day, they're hugely talented!
I could witter (and lets face it, i witter) on about little details but ultimately it boils down to one thing - the newly married couple. I bloomin' love 'em. They're lovely, really really lovely and it was an honour to watch their wedding unfold through a lens.
