It must be said that i get to work with some really 'good eggs', people whose positive attitude for life is contagious and who approach everything in a wonderfully refreshing way. Emma & Rhys are two such people, with a genuine zest for life and a collective personality that is both welcoming and engaging in equal measure. From the first meeting i knew i would absolutely love shooting their wedding.
So it was that on a stunning summers day in July this year, these two gems were married in the little church at Edmondsham House, followed by their reception in the grounds of the main house. It's quite rare that weddings are held at this venue (Owing to the owners prerequisite that she must like the people who want to marry there - she's a good judge of character and a lovely lady) so i always consider it a privilege to shoot there. The gardens are rich with a variety of plants and flowers, whilst the land around the house is ideal for hosting a celebration such as this, offering an ever changing backdrop.
From the bridal prep in the morning at her parents home, to the reception itself Emma was unflappable. She was such a graceful bride and even held it together when the wedding cake (delicately made by her mum over the preceding 4 days) slipped off the cake board and onto the floor. Where others might've crumbled she shone. Plus, i've never seen a cake hit the floor and still look so good - it was a real achievement in the first place!
Rhys is a real gentleman. He's got a fantastic sense of humour and his personality seems to compliment Emma's effortlessly - good job they got married then!
Quite often i learn most about the people i work with from the speeches offered up by the groomsmen and family members. It transpires that they really are as funny and as well suited for each other as they seemed. The stories that came out were hilarious and testament to the vibrant characters of both of them.
It was a belter of a summers day - the weather was glorious and the fields surrounding the house were drenched in deep sunlight as the day drew to a close - perfect time to have a bimble and get some shots with the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen, moments like that stay with you.
I genuinely wish Emma & Rhys the most incredible life together. To their friends and family too (quite a lot of whom travelled some great distance to be there) i extend my best wishes, you were all a real pleasure to spend the day with!!
I hope you enjoy the photos!
