To photograph a wedding on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour is a rare thing. Before 2019, only 80 couple had ever been married on the island and to do so, you must be or have been a resident of the island for some time.
When Hannah & Dave came to me to speak about their wedding, i got so excited as they were one such couple that were allowed to marry on the island, with Hannah having grown up there with her family. The day was set to be a long one, as i set off from home just before 7am and didn't return until late in the evening, however it was packed with so much fun and laughter, the hours flew by!
I met Hannah's brother (the most helpful guy you could wish to meet) at the jetty by the Sandbanks chain ferry, in order to catch a different ferry over to Brownsea Island... now that is a commute i could get used to, it was wonderful. The prep, with Fiona (of FLC Hair & Make Up) and the fabulous Hollie Danby, was great fun and a good way to ease into the day. From there, it all became a blur - ceremony at the church, group photos, drinks, ferry back to the mainland, bus to the reception (Party Fields in Corfe Castle), more drinks, more talking, speeches, food, dancing, more drinks.... and so on.
Unfortunately, Dave lost his wedding ring within a few hours of the ceremony, so that will be an enduring memory of the day for me, but i hope they find a suitable replacement or they discover the original!!
Huge thanks to Hannah & Dave for having me at their wedding, it really was a standout day and a memorable occasion.
