It was a long time before their wedding that Aaron & Karla contacted me about photographing their day at The Sandbanks Hotel. Like every meeting, the time between the initial contact and the day itself flew by, as it tends to when you're having fun! 2 years in a blink.
It must be said though, that their wedding day went by way too fast. I always say that a wedding is determined by the character of the Bride, Groom and their guests. In this instance i was in wonderful company. An array of pleasant people who were not only great fun to photograph but also welcoming to talk to. This is quite often the case, however sometimes you feel more at home than others, you can't explain it.
From the off, during the bridal prep at the venue, Karla was relaxed and looking sublime. She's a true example of humility - caring that everyone else was okay before getting herself together. Her children and close family came and went throughout the morning and they too were as delightful to spend time with and she was.
I think Aaron felt the nerves, as i'm sure most people do, but he quietly did all that was needed to get things ready; also making sure everyone was okay.
The ceremony and ensuing reception was awesome - a little stroll down the beach for some photos, drinks and conversation on the terrace in the sun. Spot on. There was, of course (It's England), a torrential downpour during the wedding breakfast, however this did little to mute the celebrations. A remarkably emotional speech from the Best Men, led to similarly emotional moments as love was poured from one heart to another, to another.
From there the guests mingled, the DJ set up and we caught some shots of the sunset on the shoreline of a receding tide, before heading back for the first dance.
I hope Aaron and Karla enjoy the memories their photos have caught and that for years to come they will revel in the echoes of the joy of that day. So now we are far on the other side of this great day, for these two great people. I hope every day ahead yields some magic, some moment of knowing that life is good and they found each other.
