Crikey o'blimey me wotsits McReilly o'crikey...!
That's about as articulate as i can be about just how awesome Kelly & Luke's Wedding in the woods was on Saturday, it was a belter!
They chose 'Weddings in the wood' at Emery Down, in the New Forest as it is a stunning backdrop for a wedding, plus it gave them a little more freedom to be individualistic in their approach and organise some unique bits n bobs for the day.
For example, i can't name one wedding i've been to where axe throwing and air rifle shooting have been on the agenda. I tell you what though, it's a damn good way to give people a fun time and a little competition.
They also had their beautiful Staffy 'Whiskey' there for the day, a gentle and gorgeous little chap who i think enjoyed the attention and the occasion! As a dog owner myself, i can completely understand why people want their dogs at the wedding - they really are part of the family.
Kelly & Luke have been together for some 12 years, which i think offered some clues that they might well tie the knot at some point - and i'm so pleased i was there to capture it for them. Their friends and family were so much fun to be around - kind, funny and i knew some of them too which was a cheeky bonus!
Weddings in the wood, is essentially a large area of beautiful woodland, with a clearing in which there are some fabulous little 'gypsy cart' type huts, each kitted out with beds and a mini-stove. A timber-clad hall and a marquee play host to the more formal elements of the day. It's quite a unique location that's for sure.
Throughout the day i got to talk to many of their guests and it was totally apparent that they are very highly thought of - there were a lot of people with a lot of love for these two beautiful people.
It was a pleasure, therefore, not only to capture their day but to spend some time with just the two of them and to see just how well matched they are.
Come the evening, after the meal and speeches (in which the groom employed Siri to start off his speech - Genius!) and after the cake was cut... with a sword, everyone was treated to some awesome live music from the band 'Embassy'. They performed an eclectic mix of classics combining male and female harmonies to great effect.
I think it's fair to say that Luke & Kelly had a ball. I hope they enjoy their married life together, with their baby boy and Whiskey - i hope their mutual endeavours bring them joy and that the years are kind to them all, on their shared journey ahead.
