The area in which we live, here in Dorset, hosts a huge variety of fantastic wedding venues; each with its own particular, stunning backdrop. It must be said that The Harbour Heights Hotel, in which Laura & Craig decided to celebrate their wedding day, has one such phenomenal view. With Brownsea Island and the natural harbour surrounding it, it's the perfect place to while away the hours or to kick off your shoes with your guests and enjoy your time together.
Laura & Craig are a gentle, kind and funny couple - they're wonderful to spend time with. Even when i arrived and (having only ever seen the bride with her hair down - i used to work in the same building) i didn't recognise her with her hair up, Laura didn't push me out the door and say 'The photographers clearly an idiot'... ah, how we laughed... how i blushed! The morning prep was calm and quiet, focussed and full of poise - i love the nerves, that expression that it means something.
Their friends and family too are a delight to be around, they create a very relaxed atmosphere and they were lovely to talk to. With the ceremony held in Canford Magna Church Nr Wimborne, The Bride, Groom and guests made their way to Harbour Heights for the afternoon festivities. The rain held off... thankfully. It goes to show what a grass skirt and a poorly rehearsed sun dance will do to the weather.
The afternoon melted into laughter, conversations, a few Jaeger Bombs (one of the more expensive rounds in history, courtesy of the happy couple), good food and good people. Perfect! Its easy for an outsider to see just how well suited this couple of beauties is - they fall into each others eyes, they clearly work as one and they share their love for each other continuously. The odd tear worked its way into the mix, which is something i like to see - emotion is a beautiful thing and this is one day that it's worth airing it for.
With some brilliant speeches delivered, fabulous food consumed and chit-chat... chatted, the afternoon carried on with the introduction of a Photo Booth, the eventual cutting of the cake and a DJ set. All in all i'd say they did it right, just as they wanted. The speeches did throw up some particularly candid shots of the groom... suffice to say they were reason enough for the him to hold his head in dismay, as delicate sentiment was coupled with nude, childhood/teenage/adult memories. Well played.
The only downside i should note is the grooms choice of football team. Craig is a lovely guy, he really is... but its such a shame that someone tricked him into supporting Tottenham at some point; i wish him a speedy recovery... into a Bournemouth shirt. Even the cake was given the Spurs treatment, with the sugar-carved groom sporting a Tottenham shirt!
I'd like to thank both Laura & Craig for employing my services and for allowing me to capture their wonderful wedding day! There are many happy years ahead with their names written all over them.
As ever, thank you x
