In our line of work, Wedding Photographers visit and shoot a wide range of venues and locations, its an ever interesting and challenging part of the job. It helps creativity and keeps you on your toes. It has to be said that the venue Lucy & John chose for their wedding in June 2017 has become one of my personal favourites. The Larmer Tree Gardens - perfect!
Buildings of varying age, architectural design and origin dot the grounds amongst trees and gardens that form a peaceful and enjoyable setting. The staff are fabulous to work with too. Gayle, the events coordinator there, was superb throughout the afternoon - assisting everyone in a genuine and kind manner, she and her team are a credit to their profession.
Lucy & Jon are just fantastic to spend time with, encompassing what a delightful couple should be. They're fun, funny and welcoming and it was a genuine pleasure to capture their day for them. There were happy smiles throughout the day and even a smattering of rain didn't bother them - they did it right!
With the ceremony being held in the Brides church in her home-village of Marnhull, the mornings prep was contented, joyful and just down the road from the ceremony!
The bridesmaids were a blast to be with and they're clearly a close-knit group of friends. Those morning prep shoots are some of my favourite parts because its so good to see people who love one another, spending precious time together.
From there myself and one of the videographers, Ed (KE wedding films - check them out they're brilliant!), popped into the local pub to see the groom arrive with some of the guests. They utilised two awesome classic cars for the occasion - A Porsche and Ferrari... what a sound for a wedding day!!
After the ceremony everyone made the journey to The Larmer Tree and along the route we stopped for some photos at a nearby viewpoint. With the sound of Bi-planes burbling overhead as we walked down to the fields it did cause me to think 'How beautiful is the British countryside!?!'.
The rest of the day went smoothly, albeit with an hour of rain to cool the air. A guitar and drum duo performed on the stage, whilst guests danced, sang and were merry - all in equal measure. Once the guests were seated, the speeches were delivered with aplomb and had me laughing my head off as revelations were exposed during the best man's speech.
The evening was graced with beer-pong, toasted marshmallows on the fire pit, festoon lighting and a beautiful room for the first dance and subsequent 'partially inebriated' dance moves.
To everyone there that day i'd like to say thank you for being such a delight to be around and talk to, for celebrating the day in just the right way and for making two special people very happy. Good work Team!!
To Lucy & Jon - thankyou for having me to capture your day, you have been a pleasure to be around from start to finish. I hope i've produced images that will keep the memory vibrant for many years.
