I've known Melanie & Jon for a number of years - having worked with Melanie (Smelly Knees... i was so mature back then!) in Wimborne for 3 years, we'd built up a lovely friendship - she was like the sister i never had. I mean, the nice sister i never had. Jon is a genuinely lovely guy. So to discover that they had gotten together was fantastic news. When their wee baby boy came a long it was even better news! And when they asked me to photograph their wedding i was over the moon.
To photograph such moments for people is to be very close to the action, intimately involved through the viewfinder. Knowing that Mel had found the right man for her and likewise for Jon, it was very moving to see them marry. Good people deserve good things, this was one such good thing.
They married in a tiny chapel in the sticks, a weeny but perfectly formed building in which you felt you could spend hours and hours. From there they had a reception at The Castleman in Chettle. With a late service and horizontal prep in the morning, it didn't feel a bit like work. Particularly when they very kindly invited me to stay for food with them and their guests. A moment that warmed the heart, truthfully.
Nice touches included using flowers grown in their own garden, which really brought home the cosy and personal occasion.
I hope that they have found and continue to develop their happiness, that it leads to happy places and wonderful experiences together. They are two incredible people and i have to say i adore the bones of both of them.
