Every wedding means something. It means something to those who are guests, to those who work on the day and of course, to those two fabulous people getting married.
There was something ultra meaningful to Andy & Nina's wedding, and i can't put my finger on it. Even as someone who was there to blend into the background and capture it all, i gathered a sense of utter, unbridled Love. Like the personification of a beautifully written passage about what it means to Love and be Loved. The bride and groom swooned and settled into their marriage in a matter of seconds.
It's delightful to see nerves on occasions such as this - it shows it really matters. It has to be, to make the two hearts as one for all to see. Both parties were subject to a few butterflies on that morning certainly, with the bride allowing a bit of reflective time whilst the literally 'Amazing Hair & Make-Up' added the final touches to an already beautiful face.
The bride was welcomed in with music from a string quartet, who played perfectly throughout the afternoon. Not only performing classical numbers, but some more modern songs finely morphed into wonderful string music.
The whole day was set at Christchurch Harbour Hotel in... Christchurch. From our initial conversations, Andy & Nina had stipulated that they wanted a relaxed atmosphere, and an indulgence in the good things - good friends, good food and good wine. All of these were on full show throughout, with a 7-course meal at the centre of it. For each course, the bride and groom would change tables, in order to be sure of spending time with everyone, something that sums them up really - entirely committed to sharing love and the happiness it ignites.
The delicious meal was accompanied by the remarkable talents of 'Evertide', a duo (trio also available i understand) who played an eclectic and well performed set of absolute classics and some welcome surprises. Guitar accompanied by fantastic female vocals was a real crowd pleaser and something i would highly recommend to anyone.
I was recommended to the happy couple by a mutual friend, and on a personal level i'm so pleased they did and that they felt comfortable enough with me to book me. Of course, the relationship one has with a client is essential for things to run well and for the photos to look good. But to me, Andy & Nina aren't clients. I find it hard to keep it that way when such perfect moments have been shared. They had me at hello and whether they had chosen me or not, i would have surely followed them up to see how they got on.
Thankfully i was there to see it for myself, and what a day it was.
I'm so lucky. We are all so lucky. If only everyone were capable of living by the acknowledgement of that fact, like Andy & Nina, the world would surely be a better place.
To their many years together, i wish them all they could hope for and i thank them for choosing me.
