Very often as a Photographer, you are caused to stop and think about passages of time that have passed between first meeting a couple and the day of their wedding. It seemed like eons had flown by on the day of Samantha and Nick's wedding - i could've met them a lifetime before! I guess its that thing of 'if you're looking forward to something, it takes longer to arrive'... a 'watched pot' and all that.
In the days leading up to the big day the weather was decidedly British; damp with more dampness due on the damp bits. Thankfully we all awoke to glorious sunshine on the Saturday, ya beauty!!
Samantha and Nick proved to be such a delightful couple to be around. Both are graced with a fantastic sense of humour and a naturally warm personality, that it's hard not to stand and talk to them quite happily for extended periods of time. For them to choose me to capture their wedding day was a genuine honour.
Their guests, a few of whom i recognised/knew, were a great bunch who enjoyed the occasion and created a relaxed atmosphere - i often think the guests make the wedding, more so than any venue - and these guys were good!! The Bridesmaids looked stunning and the groomsmen brushed up well - all of whom were very helpful and a lot of fun... makes the job far less of a job it must be said!!
The Connaught Hotel in Bournemouth, near the cliffs and beach was the venue for the day, hosting both the ceremony and the reception. It's spaces are well set up to hold events and the staff were highly attentive and polite - good choice guys!!
The proximity of the hotel to the beach afforded us some time to venture down there and utilise the vast backdrop of the sea. It was so busy - well, it was the sunny day of the year after all - so we manoeuvred our way through the congratulatory public and took a range of shots amongst the beach huts, the beach and even in the cliff lift. In fact, one of my favourite shots from the day was taken in that lift.
After our return to the celebrations, the toast master kept things running smoothly and the illusionist entertained adults and children alike. Good food, good company and good service made for a wonderful afternoon. I hope Samantha and Nick really enjoyed themselves, i hope they've had some wonderful memories made and i hope they enjoy the photos for their lifetime.
