'Never, in the field of human conflict, has so much been owed by so many, to so few'. - Sir Winston Churchill
I hope those words resonate through the ages in order to educate generations beyond our own, as to the respect that should be held for the men and women who fought for our nation. There seems to be an ever-increasing determination to separate remembrance of ''The Wars'' from ''The Men'' who fought them and why not. War is not good full stop. However, in defence of a people who are amicable and peace-seeking, it seems a ridiculously ironic necessity. Therefore it is the people of such a nation that must fight back, and in doing so, risk the peace for which they strive.
Bravery and honour, or an overwhelming act of protection for one's family and homeland, i don't know. All i know is that, standing in Wimborne's town square, i saw the magnificent sight of a Spitfire surrounded by throngs of people in touch with the respect of a generation held in high regard. That is all that matters. Parents teaching their children, in the hope this word might never see such darkness lapping at our shores again.
