The Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne, Dorset, is home to the most unique buildings you are ever likely to see host a wedding. A Viking Long House, a stunning Earth house and various other buildings which draw their construction from the pits of history. It really is stunning, a world away from the usual venues you might host a wedding at.
Emma & Lloyd decided they wanted part-day coverage for their celebrations and sought to tie everything in with the theme of the venue. They had a celebrant conduct a wonderful ceremony (probably the best ceremony I've ever witnessed), a traditional feast cooked over open flames in the Long House, Mead for the drinks reception and traditional cakes. They paid homage to the origins of so many traditions we see today. I can say this now, but on a personal note it was wonderful to be given an insight into some very special news that no one else knew. I was asked to take a photo for Lloyd & Emma that showed they were expecting a baby; something they would announce some weeks later. Congratulations to them on the eminent arrival of their child, I'm sure they will make the most of the magic that awaits.
On the day though, The venue really did make it. It is disarmingly peaceful and akin to being transported to the annuls of history. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit either way.
